VARESE - There is a piece of Varese in the upcoming G8 meeting in L'Aquila, involved in a strategical intelligence role and with a unique story. To manage communications between Barak Obama and other heads of state's security helicopters, italian Polizia and Carabinieri will deploy a system called D-Atks. It's a chain of radio links allowing any flying vehicle to send live audio, images and data to ground control. All informations are combined and displayed on digital geostrategical maps, provinding live support to defense operators in the meeting area.

VTE is every day next to the News Wolrd, and everywhere: after years of collaboration with the most present reporters, the "Ilaria Alpi" prize (click here to see official pictures of the event) has been assigned to Gianfranco Botta and Nico Piro, troupe from RAI Tg3 embedded with US marines in Afghanistan, for thier reportage "Korengal battle" describing the everyday life of a soldier of peace between real battles and difficulties.
The reportage has been realized and transmitted live and S/F with VTE DTS 2.0 Hermes directly from the battlefield. A thing we are proud of.
